Guided by the principle enshrined in the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders—which affirms that everyone has the right, individually and in association with others, to promote and strive for the protection and realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms at national and international levels—ARWEO’s human rights advocacy has yielded significant results over the years. The organization’s primary objective is to champion human rights, raise voices against oppression and inequality, and implement international human rights standards—with a specific focus on the rights of persons with disabilities, youth, children, women, and men—thereby strengthening civil society and the rule of law. ARWEO’s two decades of human rights advocacy foster an environment where men, women, youth, children, and civil society organizations can operate freely. ARWEO plans to undertake the following advocacy activities: civic education programs to raise human rights awareness; training and workshops on the UNCRPD and NAPWA; training and workshops on youth rights; raising awareness regarding women’s rights in Afghanistan; child rights advocacy; advocacy for “Education for All”; promoting youth rights and responsibilities; and advocacy for anti-corruption and transparency.
