For the past 17 years, ARWEO has been active in the agricultural sector—a vital area that provides livelihoods for a vast number of people but also faces the greatest challenges regarding unemployment, underemployment, and poverty. With donor support, ARWEO has implemented numerous agricultural projects for its target beneficiaries and has assisted the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) in policy formulation and program development. Most recently, ARWEO worked on a UNOPS-commissioned feasibility study for the Water Emergency Relief Project (WERP), covering districts across Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, Badakhshan, Kunduz, Takhar, and Baghlan. By addressing water-related emergencies—which directly impact local agriculture—this project underscores ARWEO’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and community development.
